“I loved the book. Every time I re-read it it makes me want to be a construction worker in the future..”

Great feedback from the children in primary schools in Harrow, who recently received copies of What Do Construction Workers Do? via Wates Residential https://www.wates.co.uk/articles/news/harrow-pupils-to-recieve-new-childrens-book-promoting-careers-in-construction/?utm_source=ns-RES&utm_medium=linkedin&utm_campaign=harrow-construction-book

‘Book aims to inspire construction careers’

“Three primary schools in Romford are given copies of What Do Construction Workers Do? by Wates Residential…It is hoped that children at all three schools will benefit from learning about an industry that they would not ordinarily be exposed to an early age”. “You can’t be what you can’t see”

Research shows it is essential that children are exposed to the different types careers that they could do. …..Books like What Do Construction Workers Do? and What Do Vets Do? are aimed at helping children have access to more information, to help them to have more options later. The research says that from as young as seven, some children have decided what they will do later in life – the choices they make are often influenced by those around them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-50042459

NEW BOOK LAUNCHED!

I spent a wonderful morning at Peareswood Primary School, Erith, Kent discussing my new book, What Do Construction Workers Do?, with a group of brilliant children ( – all in a very social distanced way). This is one of the 11 primary schools around London and the South, which Wates will be giving copies of the book to KS2 children. Wates is one of the largest construction companies in the UK and they are invested in working with local communities in areas that they are building. The book came about when Wates and I that realised we had a similar mission – helping young children discover what jobs are out there and how they could use their talents in the future. Azeeza, a pupil at Peareswood Primary School, summed it up perfectly… “I really liked the book because it will inspire children like me all around the world to be what they want to be when they grow up. I think construction workers work really hard and I want to be a hard working person when I grow up.” See more details in Wates’ most recent newsletter https://www.wates.co.uk
